NCA looks back on some key events from 2021. The online Daily Burial Schedule provides current burial scheduling information on the National Cemetery Administration (NCA) website. It will be on your left if you come from I 95 shortly after you turn onto Constitution Highway. Burial benefits available include gravesites, a Government headstone or marker, a burial flag, and a Presidential Memorial Certificate, all at no cost to the family. Now my GPS said it was further down Constitution Highway than it was but the signs are well marked. My biggest tip for those like me that can't go anywhere without GPS, the address of the site is: 36380 Constitution Hwy Locust Grove, VA 22508. If you are interested in the whole site - Google Ellwood Manor and go to the National Parks Service's and Friend of the Wilderness' sites for all kinds of info, including when it will be opened. As mentioned, the site was closed so we couldn't go into the house. Once at the house, signs point you to your right towards the graveyard - which is where Stonewall's arm in buried. The path leads several yards into the woods and veers left to an open corn field and the house comes into view, it is about a half mile walk to the house from the gate. If you do this, you will park and look down the walk which appears to be straight into the woods - so don't mention it reminds you of Blair Witch Project if you have someone with you that isn't a fan of the movie. Disclaimer: I am a history buff and a huge fan of all that is and was Stonewall Jackson, the sole purpose of this trip was to see the burial site. I read many of the reviews before we visited and did some online research, so hereinbelow are some tips that might help you should you decide to visit.
